After the heroine pines away from longing, their devotion transcends death, resulting in her resurrection and a happy union. What a trip!

One of the most interesting, fun, and engrossing books I've ever read--literally going to Hades and back, with a host of humorous characters along the way. "Scabby Turtle," anyone? You learn a lot about traditional Chinese culture, as well... views on the afterlife, the role of bureaucracy, etc. It's a shame there aren't more English translations of Xianzu Tang's works, and it's an even further shame there aren't yet Kindle versions of the few additional ones that exist. Get on it, Amazon!

a delightful love story with lots of action

I am not familiar with Chinese literature and this was a wonderful introduction. As just a "read", this had all the action, love and suspense that one could want. It is a very readable translation, and once into the story it became very difficult to set it down. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a delightful story well told.

food for thought and practice!

i have been out of school and in clinical practice for 25 years, and though i take numerous cont ed courses, the rehabilitation field is rapidly changing. the phrase "evidence based practice" wasn't even in use when i was in school. Believe it or not, i've read this book on the beach and under shade trees on beautiful days, compelled by the models of motor control/movement/coordination that have emerged since my college days. clinicians who want to provide top notch services and who are a dozen or more years out of school may appreciate the opportunity to study new research, learn new assessments, and upgrade their practice. It may not be everyone's idea of a summer read, but it is definitely enlightening and worthwhile.

Good for practical and basic foundation concepts in postural control

I used for the postural control sections. Has been updated to be contemporary from earlier edition. It was the only text I could find that presented postural control at an introductory/practical level. Both authors are well-known authorities in their work on postural control, too.

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LONG HAUL is book number 9 in the series. The author, Jeff Kinney, continues his insightful wit, accompanied by cutting edge (if not exactly award-winning) artwork. The artwork is a cross between a Gary Larson cartoon and Scott Adams of Dilbert fame.

If you remember where we left Greg Heffley the last time we saw him, Greg was dealing with losing the attention of his best friend, Rowley Jefferson. That book ended with Greg leaving Rowley Jefferson hanging around the "Find a Friend station." In this installment, THE LONG HAUL, the Heffley's go on vacation. But it's a vacation like none you've ever seen before. Get ready, because in this vacation we will NOT be traveling with Ward and June Cleaver. This vacation does NOT include Wally and the Beaver.

Right off the bat, the Heffley's journey takes a bad turn. Naturally, they are stuck in traffic for a long time. Alas, dad gets really nervous around high bridges: "The bridge to the beach was one of those kinds that's really high above the water, and I'm sure dad wasn't looking forward to being stuck on it for the next half hour." But that's not the worst part. Somehow, a seagull ends up INSIDE the Heffley car, flying around, looking for Cheeseits. It's complete mayhem! Perhaps the best sketch in the entire book is the illustration of the seagull flying around the car.

Here's WHY this book is so funny (and why all the books in the series are so funny): The author writes about what ACTUALLY HAPPENS (or comes close to happening) in our family trips. The reason we laugh so hard at these diary entries is that we see OURSELVES here. The accounts hit very close to him--at least for me.

√ All in all, DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LONG HAUL is a hilarious, fun read. The artwork, by itself, would not win any awards, but in conjunction with the text, it's excellent, and adds to the fun. Where does Jeff get the idea for drawing these bizarre creatures that pass as humans?

Hysterical!

this is not just a great kids book, it makes adults laugh too. I bought it today, downloaded it to my kids' kindles, they immediately read it, then they wanted me to read it to them also. I laughed out loud numerous times over the ridiculous situations in the book. I highly recommend this whole series to anyone who wants to get their kids to read.

Luminosity is the basic feature of consciousness. There is the possibility of becoming one with Siva by moving from the earth to Sadasiva by way of assimilation, samavesa. The second Chapter is concerned with deliberation on the way to Siva-hood via the pathless path. Its pathlessness lies in only the initial step suggested by the teacher with the rest of it to follow automatically. It is the kriya yoga which does not require any path to traverse along and is the path of pure consciousness where any action serves as the means of knowledge. The third Chapter deals with Sambhavopaya. The objects get reflected clearly in a clean mirror so does the world becomes reflected in the consciousness provided it has become one with Siva. The force of consciousness is considered as inseparably connected with Siva. The relationship of inseparability between Siva and Sakti produces delight which is the cause of appearance of the world.

A high quality English translation

The translators of this book have done an excellent job in the production of this English translation of the Tantraloka. I found the quality of the language in the book to be of a very high standard. The translators/authors provided a very eloquent introduction that places the Tantraloka within the wider context of the collective wisdom of mankind. In particular, the introduction points out that the school to which Abhinavagupta belonged shares its lineage with the school to which Yogananda (the author of Autobiography of a Yogi) belonged. The introduction also points out the similarities between Sri Aurobindo and Abhinavagupta’s conception of the Absolute. I learnt a lot from reading this book, and I found the work to be a comprehensive presentation of Kashmir Shaivism. I would classify this work as more of a religious text than as a text on spiritual philosophy. The truth of reality has been expressed in the world’s various spiritual traditions. This same truth has also been expressed within the Tantraloka. I am rating the book as five stars because the language of the translation is of a high standard and also because the work provides a comprehensive perspective of Kashmir Shaivism’s Tantra.

Great exaplanations

I am finishing up chapter 7. Up to this point I have been very satisfied with this book, the explanations are fairly clear and it actually has all the answers for the review problems and a plethora of examples in the text. BUT I stopped working to write this review because now I am getting sick of incorrect answers or mislabeled charts. In Chapter 7 alone, 3 answers are wrong and variables are jumbled in another. If you can find errors like that then this book is fine, but if you're easily confused I would look for something with less mistakes.

Warning: I don't mind reading "dry" books. As a result I often suggest boring books to people. So read some examples and see if you like it; the book is pretty consistant as far as its applications go.

Few thoughts on Master Math: Probability

I read this book and found it a fairly good introduction to probability theory. It gives you a decent grasp of the basic concepts without too many complex equations. For more advanced readers it's probably (no pun intended) not suitable. There also are some factual errors, for example she states that "In a Markov chain, however, the probabilities for the outcome of a trial depend on the result of the previous trial" when in fact a Markov chain does not have memory.
